Vandalism in lockdown: how to tackle opportunist graffiti

Category: Graffiti

During the coronavirus lockdowns of 2020, a vast number of buildings have become unoccupied due to whole offices working from home and restrictions on the public’s movements. Unfortunately, this makes them an easy target for vandalism and graffiti.

Consequently, there has been an upsurge of graffiti attacks on both public and private property across the country. Measures can be put in place to help prevent this, such as security lighting, fencing and other deterrents, but if a building is attacked it is critical to get the graffiti removed as quickly as possible to deter copycat attacks.

How to tackle graffiti

Many vandals want their work to be seen by others, so removing any trace of it will ensure they don’t establish a reputation or inspire copycat tagging. Fast action can also prevent some types of paint from soaking into the substrate thus causing more permanent damage.

At OneFifty, we’re experts in removing graffiti. We have removed graffiti and tags of all different sizes, that have been made using a wide variety of different contaminants, including aerosol spray paint, felt marker pens, emulsion and gloss paint. We also offer a rapid response service to remove the graffiti within 24 hours wherever possible. Using a combination of either pressurised steam or media blasting, depending on the surface type and size of area covered, we can remove the graffiti leaving no trace or shadow. An anti-graffiti treatment can also be applied to protect the surface and make it easier to clean in the future.

Here for you

Whether you own a building or manage a number of different properties, we are here to help you tackle the challenge of unwanted graffiti in these unprecedented times. You can also rest assured that we have all the required Health and Safety measures and insurances in place to protect you, our staff and the public.

For more information about our graffiti cleaning service, contact the OneFifty team on 0333 234 1445 or email your enquiry and we will get back to you as soon as possible.
