Rust Staining
Rust is commonly found on buildings constructed with iron, steel and other types of metals. Red-brown or yellow-brown rust patches appear on facades as a result of oxidisation of the metal within or nearby, which is caused by moisture and dampness around it. The presence of rust can lead to corrosion or swelling of metal, which if left uncleaned, can lead to serious structural issues. We clean metal surfaces by media blasting and applying a protective coating to prevent rust from returning. We then treat the surrounding concrete, render, bricks or cladding with pressurised steam? and prepare the surface for repainting, to restore your building to its former state.

Cleaning
We tackle rust on different substrates with different cleaning approaches. From media blasting for metals to steam cleaning for render, cladding and stone, we can remove unsightly rust staining without a trace and treat the surfaces with a protective coating to inhibit further oxidisation.

Prevention
Adequate waterproofing of the substrate during construction can prevent rust from occurring, by reducing the likelihood of metal oxidisation. Regular cleaning following especially damp periods of weather can keep your building clean and safe from structural damage.
