Case Studies
Our case studies provide a more detailed account of some of the different projects that we have worked on.
Following a relatively straight-forward clean of UWE’s pitched roof and entrance-covering canvas sails, we got to work on the building’s far more complex solar panel-covered roof.
Once accessed, the roof of UWE’s Enterprise Block is flat and, due to the lack of natural run-off, fairly safe to navigate. But the roof houses a large number of solar panels, behind which lurked a notable build-up of rain water, debris, and moss and algae.
The solar panels themselves are of course exceptional energy generators, but the vast area beneath the panels is in constant shade. Rain water cannot evaporate, and moss and algae thrive. Fortunately, we had just the answer.
Once the team were safely positioned on the roof – easily accessed using our MZ250 ‘Cherry Picker’ truck – our first task was to remove all of the water that had built-up. Through a combination of sweeping the water towards one side of the roof and employing our industrial water vacuum, which includes a large tank and enables safe storage and disposal of the water, we ‘hoovered’ and removed every last drop.
With the roof clear of water, our next task was to remove any remaining debris, then give the entire roof a deep clean using our pressurised steam cleaning system. This enabled us to get underneath the solar panels and reach every awkward corner and without causing any damage to the roof or the panels themselves.
Once we’d completed the clean, a final clear up saw what could have been a tricky clean comfortably completed.
Roofs are often the access point to a building’s plant operations, so for health and safety reasons alone, it’s important to maintain cleaning standards. If you’re the owner or manager of a large commercial building and you haven’t recently looked at or had your roof cleaned, why not get in touch and we’ll happy take a look and provide a quote.
