Despite the UK’s recent and somewhat alarming ‘snowmageddon’ spring has finally arrived. It officially begins on the 20th March - welcome news for so many reasons; longer, brighter (and warmer) days, blossoms on trees, new born lambs etc... but there is a downside - spring cleaning! That beautiful sun will shine down and expose all the dirt and grime that has been busily accumulating all over the outsides of buildings during the dark winter months, not to mention algae, lichen and moss.

You’d be amazed by the difference a pressurised steam clean can make – it can be 'transformational'. A Georgian stone façade (and any other stone façade for that matter) looks so much better once the blackened stains have been cleaned away. Cleaning property is not all about aesthetics. Algae has a negative effect on stone and render, and will contribute to the degeneration of most surface materials that it grows on. It will also keep on proliferating until stopped. So, unless you are partial to a green, black or red dip-dye effect that an algae attack can create, you’ll need to take action.
...and makes them safer too
Moss, lichen and algae also create dangerously slippery surfaces which is not ideal on steps and pathways - a definite Health and Safety ‘no-no’! These biomass growths will have been happily multiplying over the dark, damp winter nights and absolutely need to be dealt with to prevent people getting hurt through slips, trips - and possible legal action!
