Media blasting added to our list of services

Category: Media blasting

At OneFifty, we use the right tools for every job – and that includes the methods we use to tackle challenging contaminants and sensitive surfaces. As well as our tried-and-tested steam cleaning systems, we’ve added media blasting to our list of services so we can take on any job we’re tasked with.

What is media blasting?

Media blasting is a term for the process of cleaning building exteriors with a combination of pressurised air and fine particles of various media. This method can clean a range of surfaces safely and effectively – from the hard and durable to the most delicate. Using the correct media, this technique can even take ink off paper.

Media blasting can be turned up to high pressure for industrial applications and turned down all the way to gentle low pressure for delicate work, like removing contaminants from historic stone. We’ve invested in equipment that can cover the whole spectrum, with highly variable pressure control, and we can also hire in any tools that are specified on a tender.

When would we use it?

Media blasting can be used as a better and faster alternative to jet washing, steam cleaning or chemicals to minimise damage and deliver a clean finish when removing stubborn contaminants, such as rust, old paint or graffiti. It can be incredibly gentle, making it suitable for restoring historic masonry back to its former glory. At the other end of the spectrum, with high pressure it’s particularly effective in industrial applications that feature manmade materials, including breeze blocks and metalwork, as it can remove paint from hardwearing surfaces and prep them for recoating.

We often use media blasting in the same way you would sand back a table, to remove dirt and refinish the surface. Using the incorrect media or a totally different method altogether can have the unintended result of damaging the surface or leaving it in a worse state then before. To prevent mishaps and time wasted, it’s best to get the experts in first time – so we can advise you on the best approach for the issue.

If you require exterior surface cleaning and aren’t sure on how to approach it, contact us today on 0333 234 1445, or email your enquiry and we will get back to you as quickly as possible.
