Environmentally friendly graffiti cleaning

Sydney Gardens is one of the last 18th century pleasure gardens left in the country. It is located behind the Holburne Museum in Bath, alongside the Great Western Main Line railway.

Putting the environment first

We were contacted to indirectly work on behalf of Network Rail to remove graffiti from the trackside that backs onto the beautiful gardens. As the Kennet and Avon Canal runs through the park, the brief stipulated that no chemicals could be used to prevent contamination of the water and protect the wildlife that lives there.

Removing graffiti gently

At OneFifty, we avoid the use of chemicals as much as possible in the cleaning of graffiti or any other contaminants. In this case, the graffiti appeared on soft Bath stone, so it was doubly important to remove it gently, without the use of harsh substances.

We used media blasting to tackle the vandalism, cleaning the stone with a combination of calcium silicate and water, which is delicate and ideally suited to soft surfaces. Our operatives worked on a weekend in daylight hours on the landside of the track, with a rail supervisor present to ensure safety. We removed the graffiti completely, leaving no traces or shadowing, restoring the gardens to their unblemished state.

Unwanted graffiti is an eyesore – especially at historic sites like Sydney Gardens. For an expert approach to graffiti cleaning that leaves no trace behind, call Max or Andy Morris on 0333 234 1445 or email your enquiry.
